PHOTO TIPS
Not every photo is suitable for engraving. The following characteristics are important:
1. Light and sharpness
The photo should be well exposed and sharp.
2. Size
After cropping the photo should minimum 100KB and 800×1000 pixels to be large. If the (cropped) image on 100% is still sharp, the photo is suitable.
Please note: always send the original photo This can be digital, but analog (paper photo/negative) is also acceptable. Photos taken with WhatsApp (or another app) are usually downgraded, which may mean they fall below the minimum size.
Make sure the person in the photo isn't too far away. The closer the person is, the more detail will be visible in the engraved portrait. The photo is usually cropped to bring the person closer into the design. You can, of course, specify your preferences.
The photos below show a suitable and an unsuitable photo. You don't have to send a black-and-white photo, of course. Color is also acceptable.

FAQ
The standard portrait measures 17x23x1cm. It is available in Amber or Clear. Rose is no longer available. For an additional charge, you can choose LED lighting and a matte black stand. The portrait, including a stylish aluminum stand, will be shipped securely in a gift box.
Customization is anything other than what's mentioned above. Portret in Glas is always open to realizing your ideas. For example, you can choose a different size for your portrait:

The design translates your photo into a black-and-white "halftone" image, that can be engraved in glass. White is engraved and opaque, whereas black is not engraved and transparent. Translating photo into design is all about finding the right balance between engraving (white) and transparency (black). After all, we want both: the details of the photo (e.g., hair, etc.) and a radiant light image.

If you don't want or can't place it near a window, you can, for example, shine a spotlight on the portrait and place it against a dark wall. Finally, it's good to know that a coloured portrait (Amber) has higher contrast and is therefore more visible against a light background (e.g., a blue sky or a white wall). LED lighting is a good way to boost contrast, especially with Clear portraits.

Portrait in Glass creates its own LED lighting in the holder. For optimal lighting, Portrait in Glass uses high-quality COB LEDs (COB stands for Chip On Board). The tightly spaced COB-leds create an even illumination of the portrait.The standard size COB LED portrait has an additional cost of €50, including a cord/switch and a 12V adapter (black).
The glass is thick and can withstand minor impacts, but it is still glass and therefore fragile. If the portrait falls or is carelessly removed from its holder, it can be damaged. The engraving has been treated with a coating This makes it less likely to get dirty and easier to clean. Clean by hand only, using a non-aggressive or non-acidic soap-based product and a lint-free cloth.
Because the glass portrait is a personal product, it cannot be returned. The portrait is a one-of-a-kind piece, crafted with the utmost care to your specifications. I will guide you through the process as needed to ensure the portrait is as successful as possible. Please ask any questions you may have on the order form, and I will answer them as soon as possible. It is the buyer's responsibility to familiarize themselves with the product.
